Firestone 2012 Syrah (Santa Ynez Valley)

Black pepper, condensed lilacs, dark chocolate and a bit of tar show on the nose of this straightforward take on the grape from the longtime producer. The palate is standard in a good way, with more pepper plus blackberry fruit, roasted beef and rosemary-crusted lamb notes, framed by proper tannins and acidity.
