Terre Rouge 2011 High Slopes Syrah (Sierra Foothills)

This is a fully formed mouthful of a wine, meaty and smoky and brisk in savory fruit. From one of Terre Rouge's higher-elevation sites, it signals mountain fruit for sure, in terms of tannins and structure, but offers finesse in the glass, too.
